Project context:

Oil refinery energy systems are complex, capital intensive and highly interconnected. The engagement focused on reducing specific energy consumption without compromising throughput, safety, process reliability or product quality.

Expanded objectives:
  • Establish a structured energy baseline for refinery units, utilities and major energy-consuming assets.

  • Identify improvement opportunities in fired heaters, steam generation and distribution, pumps, compressors, cooling systems and heat recovery networks.

  • Develop practical energy-performance KPIs such as fuel gas intensity, steam balance deviation, electricity intensity and heat-recovery effectiveness.

  • Prioritize improvement initiatives using value engineering, implementation complexity, operational risk and expected annual savings.

  • Create a governance model for monitoring, sustaining and reporting energy-efficiency gains after project completion.

Value delivered:

Reduced energy intensity in refinery operations and created a repeatable framework for energy-performance monitoring and benefit tracking.
