Project context:

The loading and hauling value chain determines a substantial portion of open-pit mine productivity and operating cost. This work focused on converting operational event data into performance-management routines.

Expanded objectives:
  • Define a performance-measurement framework for loading units, haul trucks, dispatch operations and material movement.

  • Quantify delays, queuing, spotting time, loading time, travel time, dumping time, payload variance and equipment utilization losses.

  • Develop operational dashboards for mine supervision, planning and continuous improvement teams.

  • Identify bottlenecks affecting truck-shovel matching, fleet productivity, fuel consumption and unit haulage cost.

  • Create improvement actions that could be embedded in shift routines, weekly performance reviews and mine-planning feedback loops.
