Project context:

The project addressed the interaction between diesel-fuel properties, combustion quality and heavy-duty truck operating performance. The emphasis was on lifecycle fuel cost reduction, not isolated laboratory optimization.

Expanded objectives:
  • Evaluate how fuel properties such as cetane behavior, volatility, density, viscosity, lubricity and additive packages influence heavy-truck fuel consumption.

  • Design a practical evaluation framework connecting laboratory fuel characterization with field operating conditions.

  • Assess the impact of fuel formulation changes on engine efficiency, engine response, emissions profile and maintenance risk.

  • Develop a decision model comparing alternative formulations against fuel cost, operational performance and implementation practicality.

  • Recommend a scalable fuel-optimization pathway for heavy-truck fleets operating under high-load industrial conditions.
